Who we are

Meerson Watches is the design house founded by Alexandre Meerson. The timepieces are created in the French studio of the House and manufactured in Switzerland. We specialise in bespoke, made to order, and modern timepieces. We offer elegant disruption, in a dull world of grey men in grey suits selling ‘icons’ that are decades old.

OUR STORY

Pierre Cardin the fashion designer and mentor to Meerson once said, ”I was very lucky, I was part of the post-war period when everything had to be re-done”. Meerson’s father Emerich had been part of a post-war renaissance in European design, creating one of the first fashion watches and designing for Tiffany, HStern and Mikimoto as well as setting up his own watch brand. From the horror of war, beauty flowed but the two men had a difficult relationship and Alexandre Meerson used that pain to leave home at 15 in search of his own destiny. He wanted to make watches that meant something rather than cash in on the style of the moment and for that he needed to challenge the accepted codes of watch design.

He went to work for LVMH migrating luxury brands to a new online universe and then began his own design studio called Art in Detail where he pioneered the use of technology in watches and wearable devices but it wasn’t until he launched his own brand that he really came into his own. This began a new chapter for him as a third generation watchmaker in a long lineage of creativity. The purity of his style provided a startling contrast to the over complicated design language of haute horology and he was lauded for his disruption. The brand expanded to include a clock and collections dedicated to women but his ethos and psychology remained the same. To design in tandem with you the client for the best watch you will ever wear.
